REVIEWS 2007
The Oakley - Brewood - 27 July 2007

First time we'd seen the band Desperado. Great gig at the Oakley Country Club. Meal and cabaret set up with a very mixed audience ."Girl's Night Out".....Family Celebrations...all ages and musical tastes....but they all went for it! When it got a bit heavier in the second half I looked around to see how the quite elderly couple (80th Birthday) were coping. The lady was clapping along and both looked to be having a great time.

When there is a meal and cabaret the music can often become incidental. That didn't happen. The audience
were behind you from start to finish. Smooth professional sound. Great vocals from all concerned. All the best for the future, lads. Hope we get to see you again soon. From 2 new fans.

Allan and Glynnis Briscoe.

On friday the 27th august I went along to the OAKLEY in Brewood with a few friends, as invited guests of the Eagles tribute band DESPERADO, the venue was comfortably full of Eagles fans eagerly awaiting the first set. We were not disappointed when they kicked off with Witchy Woman and the crowd were hooked, the band moved with confidence through classics such as Lying Eyes, Tequila Sunrise, Best of my Love, and many more favourites. The second half was full of Eagles and Joe Walsh guitar driving rock, the instrumentation was tight, professional and for me a true Eagles fan, very authentic. It was refreshing to hear some none mainstream numbers, such as Victim of Love, and Don Henleys End of the Innocence. For me the highlight of the evening Chris Brightons goose pimply vocals on the classic Desperado, this was a great night if you love the Eagles, so go see DESPERADO......

Wetmore Whistle - Burton - June 16 - 2007

What a night !! The crowd were up for it right from the off ..... the place was packed shoulder to shoulder, and the band delivered big time. If you guys stick at it, you'll be top of the tree in no time.

Excellent renditions of all the favourites, but new man Dave's voice really blew the lid off. The new line up and vocal blend is right up there with the best. Keep it going guys........

Tina Eglington

I saw band at the Wetmore last time, and it was a great night. But you surpassed yourselves this time with a much better performance. The new line up kicks ass, and you say the guitar player Glyn only stepped in at the last minute ??? Unbelievable..... I will be spreading the word about this band to all and sundry....... Fantastic !!!

Stoney Stanton Club - Stoney Stanton - June 15 - 2007
Can I thank you and all the band for a great night on Fri 15th June at Stoney Stanton Social Club. The band did suffer with one thing and another, but still came up with the goods. Many thanks.

I can honestlly say 99% thought it was great. Lets get one thing clear you and the band put together a brilliant show, with all the barriers you have had to deal with. Great, I have no hesitation in booking you again next year.

Please pass the message onto the rest of the band and well done.

Thanks again Jim Bunting ..........(Stoney Stanton Social Club)
The Nags Head - Nuneaton - Jan 18 - 2007

Absolutely cracking gig last eve !! What a spot on venue The Nags is - A veritable cocktail to rival any Tequila Sunrise ...

The set - beautifully balanced, arising like the sun over the desert - first half faves to note would be "Seven Bridges" (harmoneeeeeeeeees abound), The slickly segued "Lyin eyes" into the crowd pleasing "Take it easy" was faultless on a corner in Nuneaton Borough...' JUST !! "The Limit" was reached on the credit card song and maybe even exceeded ;-)

All too soon there was the first set over ... More Beer (obviously) Then ... Those of us about to rock (Or is that rocker?) saluted you - "Heartache" & "Get Over it" slam dunked !!! & So to my personal (anyone else agree?) pick of a very very fine bunch ... Sod ONE of these nights it was THE night !!! smacked in the gob or what ? from Rod's Bass chassee to dynamite twin axes that track was a CLASS act !! On a roll on down a dark desert highway now warm smell of Woodbines drifting up through my hair (Trio of Nuneaton Laydeez sat behind me did their level best  to turn me into a Loch Fyne Kipper !!) But hey did that deter us ? Hell no !! onto "James Dean" nailed !! , "Victim of Love"  ... soared JUST like an EAGLE of course. I have to admit that I have never really liked "In the City" but hats off I enjoyed this too... and I was well Gone by this time Already ;-) "Fast Lane" & "RMW" sliding on in - Nice work Mr B v impressive gave Penno a masterclass (Sound guy please note - THE soloist should be louder that the rest PLEASE) AND Finally two to savor au finale ... Check out and never wish to leave HC a triumph of interchanging leads and turns AND the crowd choir turned up en masse to get Big D down of those fences ... Sundays can be such sweet sorrow "Boys of Summer" would be a goody if poss guys - Beers always wants MORE

'Beers' Monckton

Hiya Chris, What a great night – I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it.

One of my favourite harmony moments is from ‘Take It To The Limit' and it was perfection. I took Brenda along and noticed her tapping her foot which is praise indeed for her! The Eagles will have to pull something special out of the bag at the NIA to beat you lot!!!! ( for those of us who have tickets Mr M! )

Have you thought about ‘Those Shoes'? I know you can't do everything. Great work on the Joe Walsh solo in HC – it's such a great solo and you absolutely nailed it.

Alan Gardiner

Can't add a great deal more, other than to say that I had Goosebumps at times, pure quality

The Shed - Brierly Hill - Jan

Just to thank you and the lads for putting on a superb show tonight - you get better each time I see you. You deserved far more of an appreciative crowd but I hope it doesn't stop you playing there again. I'll just have to bring more friends next time!

Thanks and applause on a fantastic set - Hotel California was wicked !! Get Over It, Victim of Love etc. etc., were all brilliantly reproduced.

Bigger venues and better crowds can't be too far away for you now surely? Give my regards and best wishes to everyone and I'll see you soon
